Lauren Fay has experience with buying and selling horses at all budgets and rider levels, having both worked on the professional circuit and sale barns for years as well as having had to manage purchase and sale of her own horses on a limited budget.

Lauren’s philosophy on buying horses is simple: do it right the first time. She emphasizes the importance of a good rider- horse fit as well as a thorough pre-purchase exam and process. Throughout the acquisition/sales process Lauren will act as your representative and agent and will provide services including but not limited to:

Acquisition

  • Pre-Acquisition Consulting: This includes evaluating a riders needs and goals, developing a template for the “ideal horse,” identifying the “must haves” and the “wants” and setting reasonable expectations based on budget restrictions.
  • Research and Outreach. This includes identifying any potential horses that fit the owners “template” and outreaching to their sales agent/owners to qualify the horse as a potential purchase candidate.
  • Scheduling Test Rides and Evaluations. This includes traveling to test the potential purchase prospect individually or with the intended rider, scheduling all pre-purchase exams and coordinating with sales agents and vets to ensure the animals health.
  • Price Negotiation. This includes negotiating on behalf of the client for the best possible price based on information such as expert opinion, pre-purchase exam findings, and travel costs.
  • Purchase Paperwork and Travel Arrangements. This includes drafting/reviewing all needed paperwork, coordinating bill of sale and ownership documents, coordinating regulatory documents required to travel across state/country borders, coordinating travel arrangements and making the process as simple for the client as possible.

Sales and Marketing

  • Collateral Creation: Can create flyers, shareable graphics and other marketing materials to inform potential buyers about sale horse. Can create varied content to generate more interest, based on the schedule set. Example Collateral: ICE Ad
  • Social Media Marketing: Create a post on the Higher Altitude Equestrian Facebook Page, Website and Instagram which will contain all information about sale horse, photos, videos and any collateral created.
    • Post will be pinned for the duration that Ice is on the market so that it will always appear at the top of the page.
    • Post will be updated with any new collateral that is created.
    • Post will be shared through equestrian sales groups that HAE is a member of on a regularly scheduled basis, with some variation to create more interest.
    • Owners will be able to update the information available here, whenever they would like.
  • Marketing through Horse Sale Networks: Can create posts on horse sale networks such as equinenow.com, equine.com, dreamhorse.com and others utilizing marketing collateral created.
    • Will create and monitor posts through free networks
    • Will recommend any paid posting networks to owners based on professional experience and will create and monitor any posts that the owner wants to purchase on these networks.
  • Outreaching to Personal Networks: Outreach through personal networks to parties that may be interested in Sale Horse, as well as inform other industry peers/trainers at horse shows and other events that Sale Horse is on the market.
  • Act as Owner’s Representative for all potential Buyers:
    • Will schedule times for potential buyers to see and ride Sale Horse and will be available for these interactions.
    • Will coordinate through owners to transfer any vet records, needed sale information and buyers offers.
    • Will act in accordance to the owners best interest in the sale of the horse
